Prof. Markus Pudelko on a Conference Marathon in Manchester and Warsaw
Participation in the annual meetings of the Academy of International Business, the International Organization Network, and a multiculturalism research group
As he does every July, Prof. Markus Pudelko attended the annual meeting of the Academy of International Business (AIB), which took place this year at the University of Manchester. Prof. Pudelko has been a regular participant at this conference for about a quarter of a century. This year, approximately 1,400 international business researchers gathered to present their research findings over the course of four days. Among them, for the first time, was Shuangyue Li, a doctoral student of Prof. Pudelko, who presented a joint paper on value perceptions in German-Chinese work contexts. Prof. Pudelko also presented research findings he had developed together with his former doctoral students Jörg Büechl (on perceptions of justice) and Tomke Augustin (on social capital).
In the run-up to this conference, Prof. Pudelko also attended a two-day meeting of the International Organization Network (ION) at Manchester Metropolitan University. This is a group of about 30 scholars who, at their annual meeting, do not present specific research projects but rather discuss broader research objectives, methods, and trends in the field of cross-cultural management, a subfield of international business.
Immediately after his stopover, Prof. Pudelko flew from Manchester to Warsaw for another meeting of about 20 scholars. The focus of this two-day meeting was even more narrowly defined. The discussion centered on multiculturalism in the corporate environment, a phenomenon that has gained increasing significance in the field of cross-cultural management in recent years. The meeting took place in the iconic building of the Academy of Sciences in the center of Warsaw.
One conference leads to the next, and so Prof. Pudelko is now heading to the annual meeting of the Academy of Management in Philadelphia, where over 10,000 scholars from the broad field of management will gather to present their latest research findings.
