About

Marya Soubra graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2021 and a Master's degree in 2023 from the American University of Beirut. Her Master’s thesis was specialized in archaeobotany, where she conducted botanical analysis on three sites in Lebanon, aiming to highlight the importance of this field in a country where it is yet understudied. She has participated in several archaeological excavations in Lebanon, such as Tell Kubba, Tell Burak, Tell Mirhan, and Baalbek, as well as in Bat, Oman. Additionally, she worked as a research assistant for Marburg University, where she worked on pottery drawing and typology, and as research assistant at the Archaeological Museum of the American University of Beirut, where she did research, wrote articles, participated in surveys and assisted in event management.

Currently, Marya is a PhD candidate in lithics analysis as part of the ERC REVIVE project at the University of Tübingen. Through the project, she will study lithic collections from Lebanon to get new information concerning lithic technology and procurement. She is especially interested in the Palaeolithic and the Neolithic, mainly in the thoughts processes and experiences people had during these periods.
