Master's project:
During my master’s thesis, I investigate the interplay of vegetation, sediments and earth surface processes. For this, I measured grain-size distributions and sediment chemistry of different landforms at four field sites in the canton of Valais (Switzerland). Then I compared differences in sediment properties to differences in plant communities to assess potential feedbacks. My project included four weeks of field work in the Swiss High Alps as well as several weeks of lab work with standard dry sieving, grain-size analysis based on laser diffraction, and portable x-ray diffraction measurements of sediment chemistry.
