Arbeitsschwerpunkte

  • Mathematical modeling and spatial analysis of landscapes
  • Landscape complexity
  • Topological, algebraic and algorithmic analysis of complexity
  • Geography didactics
  • Cyber geography

Fivos Papadimitriou holds degrees in geology (B.Sc.), physics (M.Sc.), environmental resources (M.Sc.) and education (M.Ed.), and two doctorates in Geography: one from the University of Budapest (Ph.D.) and another from the University of Oxford (D.Phil.Oxon.). He has received prizes, awards, research fellowships, distinctions and honorary invitations from national and international organizations, universities and academies of sciences. Fivos’ major contributions to science consist in the creation of original and innovative mathematical methods and models (analytic, algebraic, combinatorial, topological) for the measurement of spatial complexity, spatial entropy and landscape complexity. He is the author of the monographs “Spatial Complexity. Theory, Mathematical Methods and Applications”, “Spatial Entropy and Landscape Analysis”, “Modelling Landscape Dynamics. Determinism, Stochasticity and Complexity” and “Geo-Topology. Theory, Models and Applications” (all published by Springer).
