Prof. Dr. Julia Frick

Prof. Dr. med. Julia-Stefanie Frick studied Medicine at the Universität des Saarlandes and the Universität Ulm from 1993 till 2000. She earned her doctorate at the University of Ulm. Her MDThesis was entiteled „Release of endotoxin-binding proteins during major elective surgery: role of soluble CD14 in phagocytic activation“. In 2006 she got her qualification in “Medical Microbiology, Virology and Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases”. In 2012 Julia-Stefanie Frick was appointed on a W2 professorship for “Mucosal Immunity and Microbiome” at the Eberhard-Karls University Tübingen. Currently Prof. Frick is employed as a senior physician, Deputy Medical Director and Group Leader at the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene, University of Tübingen. Since 2016 she is the Vice-Chairman of the DGMIM (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Mukosale Immunologie und Mikrobiom). In 2008 Julia-Stefanie Frick was awarded with the carreer award „Förderpreis“ of the German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Hygiene und Mikrobiologie, DGHM) and in 2015 with the Oskar Medizin Preis (Oskar-Helene Heim Stiftung). Her scientific focus lays in the understanding for the role of host-microbiota interactions in the development or prevention of chronic systemic or intestinal inflammatory disorders.
