For users

1. Filetransfer

Putty (ZDV software and sftp)

• Connect to the server with Putty telnet (ssh telnet):
  host: commlink.zdv.uni-tuebingen.de
  Protocoll SSH
• Open the connection
  login as <loginID>
  <loginID> is your ZDV (email) login name
• type in your original! password
  if you changed your ZDV password, you had to remember your original password
  
  
• if your poster is in the Temp-Folder (bigger 12 MB, s.a.):
  cd /tmp
  
• type:
  sftp <loginID>@commlink.zdv.uni-tuebingen.de
  <loginID> is your ZDV (email) login name
  
  
• type in your original! password
  if you changed your ZDV password, you had to remember your original password
  
  
• for files larger as 20 MB you had to change to Temp-folder:
  cd /tmp
  
  
• (use pwd to confirm you are in the folder)
  
  
• to transfer the file from OSX Desktop:
  put path<filename.ps>
  
  
• (ls filename.ps
  to check the transfer)
  
  
• close connection:
  exit
  
  
  
  

alternative to transfer the files you can use:

SSH Secure iXplore (ZDV Software):

• Remote | Add SSH Host
• Host Display Name: Posterserver (free name)
  Host:commlink.zdv.uni-tuebingen.de
  Username:<loginID>
• OK for secure keys
• Password:type in your original! password
  if you changed your ZDV password, you had to remember your original password
• Put your filename.ps on to the commlink server. Use "upload to remote computer" or drag and drop with the mouse.
• Close the connection.

2. Printing the poster

• Connect to the server with Putty telnet (ssh telnet):

• Open the connection
  login as <loginID>

• type in your original! password

• if your poster is in the Temp-Folder (bigger 12 MB, s.a.):
  cd /tmp
  
  
• To check your file:
  ls <filename.ps> -all
  
  
• Print the Poster:
  lpr -Pps036.a0 <filename.ps>
  
  
• Check print queue:
  lpq -Pps036_a0
  
  
• In some case you had to delete print job:
  lprm -Pps036.a0 <rank>
  <rank> is the number of the print job. You get with lpq -Pps036.a0
