Call for Papers: Symposium "Amazon 2030- Sustainability Issues in the World´s Largest Rainforests Region"

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 20th March 2023

Deforestation is a major problem in the Amazon region as a whole, and in Brazil in particular. To date, nearly 800,000km² of Brazil’s original 4m km² of Amazon Forest has been depleted due to a variety of economic activities. There is a perceived need to discuss the causes but also the possible solutions for the problems the Amazon region is facing today, and seek sustainable solutions for them.

Against this background, the symposium "Amazon 2030- Sustainability Issues in the World´s Largest Rainforests Region" is being organized by the Inter-University Sustainable Development Program (IUSDRP), the International Climate Change Information and Research Program (ICCIRP), Hamburg University of Applied Sciences Germany), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) and the Federal University of Western Pará (UFOPA), in collaboration with various organizations.

The event will be held in the city of Santarém, in the State of Pará, Brazil, on 4th-5th September 2023. Santarém is located at the confluence of the rivers Amazonas and Tapajós and is the second most important city in Pará.

Abstract submission and publication of papers
Papers selected and presented at the event may subsequently be considered for publication in the book "Amazon 2030 – Sustainability Issues in the World´s Largest Rainforests Region". The book will be part of the World Sustainability Series www.springer.com/series/13384.

The deadlines are as follows:

Final deadline for submission of abstracts: 20th March 2023
Deadline for the submission of papers: 30th May 2023
Deadline for registrations: 30th June 2023
