In order to receive ECTS credits, you have to pass an exam or hand in an assignment. The exam period usually starts in the last week of lectures and lasts until the end of the second week of the semester break. Please consider this when planning your stay in Tübingen.

EXAM REGISTRATION

You need to register for all of your exams which shall be included on your transcript during the exam registration period. Exam registration also applies for classes which do not have an official final exam but where you submis regular coursework during the lecture period or participate actively. The regular exam registration period takes place two months after the semester start:

• Winter semester: 1st Monday in December until Mid-January
• Summer semester: 1st Monday in June until Mid-July

Information on the exam registration period can be found on the website of the Central Examinations Office. Where possible, you need to register for all your exams directly in ALMA. If exam registration is not possible via ALMA, please use the special exam registration form for exchange students. Details can be found in the Guide for exam registration for exchange students.

EXAM DATES

Information on the dates of exams can be found on the website of the Central Examinations Office.

REMOTE EXAMS

Remote exams may only be arranged for students who are unable to attend the exam in person since they are required by their home university to be present there during the time of the exam due to conflicting semester dates. Upon request an official letter of proof must be produced. Students may only schedule a remote exam for the first exam (held at the beginning of the semester break in Tübingen or shortly before the end of lectures). Applications to write the second exam remotely (this is usually conduced shortly before the end of the break) may only be considered if a student failed the first exam or can produce a doctor’s note stating that he/she was unable to take the first exam due to health issues. No-shows for the first exam are not eligible for a remote second exam.

Remote exams have to be held at the same time and date as the exam in Tübingen and students need to find a supervisor at their home university, who will supervise them throughout the entire exam period. Further information on the rules and regulations of remote exams are available in the Remote Exam Application Form.

If you wish to apply for a remote exam, please send the Remote Exam Application Form completed and signed by the supervisor at your home university to exchangespam prevention@wiwi.uni-tuebingen.de for approval. The signed document must be received at by the deadline for exam registration (see website of the examinations office). Students must additionally register for the exam with the examinations office by that deadline.

DISADVANTAGE COMPENSATION

If you are an exchange student and need a disadvantage compensation for courses or examinations due to a disability or chronic illness, you should submit an application early so that adaptation services can be implemented in good time. Information on the application for disadvantage compensation is available on the website of our Student Counseling Team.
