The Tübingen University Library has concluded agreements with various publishers to ensure library users have access to a wide range of e-books. These agreements include conditions regarding the proper use of the services. Please inform yourself about these conditions and comply with the regulations. The terms of use can be found on the provider's website, e.g. as terms of use, product terms, or in the general terms and conditions (GTC).
A breach of contract entitles the publisher to block access for individual users or the entire University.
By accessing resources under the publishers’ licences, you undertake to comply with the following rules:
- Access is only granted to members of the university and registered users of the University Library.
- Use is only permitted for personal or research purposes. Commercial use is not permitted.
- You are not permitted to pass on all or part of e-books, e-journals, and databases to others.
- Systematic downloading of large amounts of data is strictly prohibited.
Text and Data Mining and AI Application:
The following uses of e-books, e-journals, and databases are permitted for scientific purposes only and under very specific conditions, and are only possible after contract review and consultation with the provider:
- Automated download of electronic content for scientific and statistical analysis (text and data mining).
- The use of licensed texts for AI training
The use of AI tools on publishing services or the uploading of licensed texts to AI applications may also be restricted or prohibited without the provider's consent (for details, see DBIS).
Otherwise it constitutes breach of contract, with corresponding legal consequences – for both the user and the University – and we therefore request that you contact us if you wish to undertake such analysis!
