Successful Tübingen team at the DHM gymnastics championships
The gymnastics team from the University of Tübingen at the catch-up date of the DHM Apparatus Gymnastics 2024: a weekend in January full of sporting performance, team spirit and a great atmosphere.
From January 24 to 26, 2025, the Biedenkopf hosted the German
University Championships (DHM) in gymnastics from 2024 was held in Biedenkopf. The
event was organized by Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the KTV Obere Lahn and attracted a total of 437 ambitious participants from all over Germany. The students from the University of Tübingen took part with 34 athletes.
DHM competitions: The early bird for the men
Friday started early for the men of the Tübingen team. They set off for Biedenkopf at 4:30 am, where the competition started at 10:30 am. The talented athletes David Wolf, Lennard Rommel, Fabian Thoma, David Stüber, Felix Kimmerle, Thomas Knemeyer, Julian Hausch and Niklas Randy Braun put in a solid and impressive performance, which ultimately earned them 7th place out of a total of 13 teams. Felix Kimmerle, who achieved a strong 11th place out of 80 starters in the individual classification, deserves special mention.
The women's DHM competition followed in the evening - a tight contest. In an
exciting field of 19 teams, the University of Tübingen was represented by two teams. The first team, consisting of Laura Dick, Lisa Dauth, Viola Wurster, Katrin Scheck, Marie Rein, Maren Schrägle, Vera Klarer and Mara Neher, put on an outstanding performance and secured an impressive third place in the team ranking with a comfortable lead of more than two points. They were only 0.05 points short of second place. The second team (Caroline Zach, Lara Waschul, Valeria Egger, Yolanda Schankat, Konstanze Löbau, Judith Hensler) achieved 13th place and also showed solid routines and outstanding team spirit.
The adh-Cup
The third Tübingen women's team, consisting of Sarah Angelmaier, Laura Mayer, Michelle Rentschler, Jana Babajan, Hannah Würbs, Anna-Lena Giss and Julia Stellwag, competed in the adh competition, which is adapted to the rules of the German Gymnastics Federation, and achieved a respectable 21st place.
Shining stars in the apparatus finals
Anyone who thought the spectacle was already over was mistaken. Saturday evening was used to see the best athletes shine once again - the finals of the German University Championships. There were also some stars among the Tübingen athletes: Laura Dick became German University Champion on vault, followed by Viola Wurster in third place. Kathrin Scheck got the whole hall going with her floor routine and also earned the title of German University Champion. In the men's competition, our starter Julian Hausch impressed with consistent and impressive performances: He achieved fourth place on the pommel horse, took the coveted bronze medal on the rings
and finally finished sixth on high bar.
The evening was rounded off with a DHM party and the return journey to Tübingen took place on Sunday.
Overall, the DHM Apparatus Gymnastics 2024 was a complete success for the gymnastics team. One podium place in the women's team competition, two German university champions and several strong final placings demonstrated the high quality and commitment of the Tübingen gymnasts. The atmosphere on these days is unique every time. We would like to congratulate all the athletes on their great performances and thank the coaches and support staff for their valuable support.
