Tennis courses in the winter semester 2024/2025
In the winter semester, the Hochschulsport will again offer weekly courses in the hall of the TC Tübingen (Gartenstr.).

Since the Hochschulsport does not have a tennis hall, no free play can be offered during the winter semester. However, the tennis clubs in Tübingen and the surrounding area offer dates for free play for guests. Please contact the respective clubs for information.

Performance levels and information on tennis courses

So that we can provide you with the best possible training, our courses are organised according to different levels of play. Tennis courses are offered at six different levels. These are graded according to playing ability from A = beginner to F = competitive player.

Please note the different course levels and choose the right level. If we find that the course level has been set too high, we reserve the right to prohibit you from continuing to take part in the course (if necessary without replacement).
 

Beginners

Learning objective:
Introduction to the basic technique of tennis. Basic strokes with method balls in the small court and also from the baseline.

Prerequisite:
Holding a tennis racket for the first time?  No problem. Here you will learn how to use it.

 

Beginner 2 

Learning objective:
Using and shaping all basic strokes. Transition from method balls to normal tennis balls.

Prerequisite:
Being able to play all strokes (forehand / backhand, volley, smash) in one rally from the baseline in pairs.

 

Advanced 1

Learning objective:
Basic strokes with topspin. Playing points with serve. The first game combinations in singles.

Prerequisite:
To be able to play balls from the baseline without rotating the ball. To be able to play a rally with one person at the net.


Advanced 2

Learning objective:
Playing combinations in doubles. Tactical elements to suit individual abilities.

Prerequisite:
Basic strokes with topspin Being able to play through a rally with a slice or topspin serve.


Expert

Learning objective:
Speciality shots, straight, slice and twist serves. Improvement of individual skills.

Prerequisite:
To be able to consciously place all stroke variations and use them as a tactical element in singles and doubles matches. Team players, experienced hobby players.


Competition

Learning objective:
To use all stroke variations. Strategy and tactics in singles and doubles play.

Prerequisite:
Only for active and former team and tournament players.

 

Important additional information about the tennis courses

  All tennis courses in the summer semester take place in groups of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 participants. In the winter semester there is a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 participants.
   All tennis courses are run by qualified coaches.
   The tennis courses last 60 minutes in the winter semester
   Summer term: 60 - 90 minutes per week depending on the number of participants in the course. The course lasts 60 minutes for 2 participants and 90 minutes for 3 - 4 participants.
   A tennis course usually consists of 10 lessons. Cancelled lessons due to rain or other reasons will be made up (in consultation with the trainer).
   To ensure optimum training, our tennis courses are organised according to different playing levels. Tennis courses are offered at six different levels. These are graded according to playing ability from A = beginner to F = competitive player (see course levels).
   It is only possible to skip several course levels in exceptional cases, e.g. from course A to C!
   For the first training session, participants meet the trainer 5 minutes before the start of the training session in front of the court where the training session will take place.
   All participants need tennis shoes for clay courts in the winter and summer semesters. Sports or jogging shoes are not permitted.
   All participants need their own tennis racket. Tennis balls and training material are provided.
   The tennis courses in summer take place at the tennis centre of the University Sports Institute at Wilhelmstr. 124, 72070 Tübingen (see map)
   The tennis courses in winter take place in the tennis hall of the TC Tübingen in Gartenstr. 80, 72070 Tübingen.
   A tennis course place does not entitle you to play freely on the courts! An additional tennis card must be purchased!

 

Tennis court rules

Court allocation: The courts are allocated by the Central University Administration or by persons authorised by it.

Court maintenance: The required court maintenance is included in the playing time. 5 minutes before the end of the playing time, the court must be cleared with the available equipment and the lines swept.

Playability of the courts: Soaked and wet courts may not be played on! Authorised persons (teachers/supervisors) or the caretaker on duty decide on the playability of the courts. Their instructions must be followed. Anyone acting contrary to the instructions will be sent off the pitch. With the third expulsion, a ban may be issued in accordance with Section 8 of these regulations.

Opening hours: Weather permitting, the tennis courts are open at the following times:
Monday - Friday from 8:00 - 21:00 Weekends and public holidays from 8:00 - 21:00

Identity check: The printout from the ticket machine is valid as proof of play. Anyone who is unable to produce valid proof will be excluded from playing on the courts. The authorised persons (teaching staff/supervisors) and the caretaker on duty check that the courts are occupied.

Tennis shoes: Only suitable tennis shoes (no jogging, studded or spiked shoes) may be worn on the clay tennis courts. Failure to do so will result in expulsion from the court and claims for damages may be asserted.

Designated playing times outside the official tennis courses of the University Sports Centre are only available for free play. It is expressly forbidden to hold self-organised courses or course-like concepts on the tennis courts.

Offences: In the event of violations of these regulations, the authorisation to play may be withdrawn and individual players may be banned from the courts. Players must follow the instructions of the authorised persons/janitors and recognise the court regulations upon receipt of the tennis card.

Use of the tennis courts for free play is at the player's own risk.
