Background

In the summer semester of 2024, the Student Health Management (SGM) BeTaBalance at the University of Tübingen conducted a student survey on the topic of health, the so-called Student Health Survey 2024. Interested in the results? Then feel free to take a look around.

What was the reason?

The Student Health Survey was conducted to examine the current needs of students. Based on the results, SGM BeTaBalance would like to develop new, appropriate health services.

What was examined?

The Student Health Survey included various questions on the following topics:

  • Health behavior (e.g., “How often do you exercise?”)
  • Health literacy (e.g., “Do you know where to find information about mental illness?”)
  • Subjective health (e.g., “What health problems have you had recently?”)

If you have any questions about the survey instruments, please contact SGM BeTaBalance.

Who participated?

478 students from the University of Tübingen took part in the Student Health Survey. Information about the participating students can be found in the chart on the right.

Who contributed?

In addition to SGM BeTaBalance, master's students from a sports science project seminar also participated in the Student Health Survey (photo on the right). They assisted in recruiting participants and evaluating and visualizing the results.

The project seminar was led by Prof. Dr. Gorden Sudeck. Michael Pelzer from the Science Communication Department advised the project seminar with his expertise in the field of science communication.

Communication

Selected results were shared across various communication channels as part of a university-wide campaign:

Social Media
Banners / Posters
Quiz
Booklet

Where was it exhibited?

A banner and an interactive quiz were used at these student and university events to present the results to students and engage them in conversation: Mental Health Days (November 25–December 4, 2024), RadCHECK-Event (April 29, 2025), Staffellauf(June 28, 2025), Trinkaktion (July 1–2, 2025), and TK-TeamRoXX (November 24, 2025).

In addition, the three-week Student Health Survey poster exhibition “Results that stick” took place on the Ammerbrücke bridge in the Universitätsbibliothek from January 19 to February 9, 2026.

How many were achieved?

The banners and quiz reached approximately 1,000 people, while the poster exhibition in the university library reached up to 25,000 people. An additional 11,000 views were recorded on Instagram.
