Rebekka Steinhäuser

Rebekka Steinhäuser is a PhD candidate, working on the “Stark in die Grundschule starten” (StarS) project, which is realized by the Institute for Quality Development in Education (IQB) in cooperation with the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology. In this project, digital methods are developed to assess the current state of learning, self-regulation, and motivational beliefs of children at the beginning of the first grade. Her dissertation project focuses on diagnosing self-regulation and its evidence-based enhancement. She is also involved in the ASPIRE project, which examines the interaction between artificial intelligence and self-regulation.

In an increasingly digitalized world, self-regulation skills are essential for goal-oriented, self-determined action. Early diagnosis of deficient self-regulation skills is crucial to initiate targeted intervention strategies that address the needs of all pupils. This lays the foundation for sustainable learning characterized by conscious engagement with one's learning process. Therefore, the dissertation project represents an important contribution to the diagnosis and evidence-based fostering of self-regulation skills.
