Nobel laureate gives 2014 Borries lecture at University of Tübingen
Physicist Professor Ivar Giaever speaks on the energy gap in superconductors
The speaker at year’s Bodo von Borries lecture at the University of Tübingen is the physicist and Nobel laureate Professor Ivar Giaever, of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Applied BioPhysics, Inc., Troy (New York). His lecture is entitled “How I discovered the energy gap in superconductors” and will be held on Wednesday, 4 June 2014, 5:15pm, lecture theater N3 at the Hörsaalzentrum, Auf der Morgenstelle. Interested parties are welcome, admission is free.
Norwegian-born Giaever received the 1973 Nobel Prize for Physics Leo Esaki and Brian Josephson "for their discoveries regarding tunneling phenomena in solids". Giaever's share of the prize was specifically for his "experimental discoveries regarding tunneling phenomena in superconductors."
