Open Position: Research Assistant (Akademischer Rat auf Zeit)

The initial appointment will be for 3 years starting April 1st, which can be extended for a second 3 years term.

The Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Kepler Center for Astro and Particle Physics, University of Tübingen, Germany, intends to hire a High Energy Astrophysicist to fill the following open position in the High Energy Astrophysics group:

Research Assistant: Akademischer Rat / Akademische Rätin auf Zeit (Bes. Gr. A 13)

The initial appointment will be for 3 years which can be extended for a second 3 years term. In the 3+3 years, the successful candidate shall seek to obtain the Habilitation, a relevant academic step to qualify for a professorship in Germany.

The successful candidate, who will have a Doctoral Degree in Astrophysics/Physics or related disciplines, and a solid postdoctoral experience in HE/VHE Astrophysics, will conduct a vigorous research program in the framework of the group research interests, and in particular on the X-ray survey data expected from the eROSITA mission, and on TeV observations. She/He shall actively participate to the teaching activities of the department, and is expected to collaborate in the supervision of thesis work at undergraduate and graduate level. Start date is from April 1st, 2017.

The High Energy Astrophysics Group of IAAT has a wide range of interests, including: experimental developments in X-ray and TeV Astronomy (eROSITA, ATHENA, H.E.S.S., CTA, XIPE, eXTP); data analysis and modelling of multi-wavelength data of galactic compact sources and SNRs; experimental developments and simulations for UHE astronomy.
