Pınar Bilgin is Associate Professor of International Relations at Bilkent University, Ankara and holds a Ph.D. in International Politics from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow in 2006, a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at King’s College London in 2013 and has been an Associate Member of the Turkish Academyof Sciences since 2012. She is also a member of the Board of the European International Studies Association (EISA) and Past President of the Central and Eastern European International Studies Association (CEEISA).Pınar Bilgin is known as one of the main representatives of Critical Security Studies. Her research focuses on post-colonial studies, securitisationand Turkish foreign policy.
Among her most important publications are Regional Security in the Middle East: A Critical Perspective(Routledge: 2005); “’Western-centrism’ of Security Studies: ‘Blind Spot’ or Constitutive Practice?”, Security Dialogue (2010) as well as “Civilization, Dialogue, Security: The Challenge of Post-Secularism and the Limits of Civilizational Dialogue”, Review of International Studies (2012).
