Stefan Elbe is Professor of International Relations at the University of Sussex and Director of the Centre for Global Health Policy. He receuved his Ph.D. in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Before joining Sussex, he held previous positions at the London School of Economics, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, and the University of Warwick.
His work focuses on global health, the international politics of disease, health security, bio-security, pandemics, and the international politics of HIV/AIDS. Moreover, he is interested in theories of security. He is currently the Principal Investigator on a five-year €1.2 million grant from the European Research Council (2013-2018).
Elbe has published widely on issues of global health, bio-security and international security. He has published several books and contributed articles to International Security, Review of International Studies and International Studies Quarterly, The Lancet, and many others.
