Lecture 18.07: Modeling interfacial processes from nanomaterials growth to water-rock interaction
The Institute of Applied Physics (Oettel and Schreiber groups) invites for a talk on Tuesday, July 18, 4.15 pm, Lecture Hall N3, Hörsaalzentrum Morgenstelle.
Prof. Fábio Reis from Flumimense Federal University (UFF), in Niterói – Brazil, is invited by Prof. Dr. Martin Oettel to give a lecture at the University of Tübingen
This year, they have started a DAAD-CAPES supported collaboration with simulation groups in Brazil working on thin film growth for nanomaterials. Prof. Reis is coordinating this from the Brazilian side and visits the University of Tübingen between 17 and 26 July. They intend to have a longer-term collaboration between experimental and theoretical groups here in Tübingen and Brazil, additionally there will be opportunities for postgraduate exchange.
After the talk, approx. 5 pm, we will have a small reception just outside lecture hall N3.
Abstract:
This talk summarizes recent works with my research group in Brazil and with collaborators abroad in two main areas. First, we show results of simulations of kinetic models that describe the morphology of growing materials of technological interest, specially thin films produced by electrodeposition or by vapor deposition. Next we review recent works on growth or dissolution of minerals and on weathering of rocks which are relevant to environmental science and geosciences. If possible, related works on anomalous transport in porous media will also be presented.
