Dr. Doaa Baumi

Doaa M. Baumi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Islamic Theology, University of Tübingen (Room 610). Her research explores the reception of biblical narratives and the development of theological constructs in classical Islamic thought. She holds a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham, an MA from the University of Chicago Divinity School, and a BA from al-Azhar University in Cairo.

Her research and teaching interests include Islamic theology (kalām), Qurʾānic exegesis, Islamic intellectual history, the reception of biblical material in Islamic literature, classical Arabic texts, and interreligious thought. She taught various courses at the University of Birmingham, and in Autumn 2024 co-taught in the program Jewish-Christian-Muslim Relations offered jointly by the University of Durham and the Scottish Episcopal Institute. She is currently teaching at ZITH on Qurʾānic and Islamic engagement with biblical figures.
