Your studies are drawing to a close: the last exam will soon be written, the final thesis submitted - what now?
On this page we have compiled all the important information you need to successfully complete your studies.
After all your achievements have been recorded, you must close your Credit Point account by filling in the form and submitting it to the Examination Office. Please note that your account must be closed by you and will not be closed automatically if you de-register. Only those who close their Credit Point account will be invited to the next awards ceremony and will receive their diploma there (see below).
Important: You will no longer be able to take any exams once you have closed your account - the bachelor thesis must be corrected, all certificates must have been handed in. (Exception: Master's thesis - here it is sufficient if you have registered for the thesis).
It will also be possible to close the credit point account after you have de-registered.
If economics or business administration is your minor study, you have to wirte an email to the Examination office, that you are finished with your minor study. Your certificate of finishing your minor study in economics won't be generated automatically.
When you close your credit point account, you can specify which modules should be credited in which areas of advanced undergraduate studies or in which specialization areas - if you do not specify anything, the Examination Office will put together the combination with the best possible grade average for you. If you have any questions about the correct crediting of the modules, the Academic Affairs Service team will be happy to advise you.

If you wish to be enrolled until the end of the semester, it is sufficient not to re-register. If you wish to give up your student status earlier due to full-time employment, etc., you will have to de-register (further information and the form can be obtained from the Registrar's Office). If you de-register at the latest one month after the beginning of the lectures, you will receive a refund of the administrative fee of 70€.
Please note that, in addition to de-registration, you must also close your credit point account as soon as all your credits have been booked by filling in the form and handing it in at the Examination Office. Important: You will no longer be able to take any exams once you have closed your account - the bachelor thesis must be corrected, all certificates must have been handed in. (Exception: Master's thesis - here it is sufficient if you have registered for it). Please also note that your account must be closed by you and will not be closed automatically if you exmatriculate. Only those who close their credit-point account will be invited to the next award ceremony and will receive their diploma there (see below).
If, for example, you would like to be matriculated beyond the end of the current semester because of an internship, you can always re-register regularly. Important: This is only possible if you have not yet closed your credit point account and have not yet exceeded the maximum number of semesters.
The awarding of certificates at the School of Business and Economics always takes place on the last Friday in June and November. If you would like to participate as a graduate, please close your credit point account at least 4 weeks before the award ceremony. The Examination Office will invite all students who have closed their credit point account in the last six months by post to the award ceremony and will prepare their certificates. If you cannot attend the award ceremony in person, your certificate will be sent to you after the ceremony. If, however, you need a temporary certificate for an employment contract, the Examination Office will be happy to issue it to you as soon as you have closed your account. All graduates of the year, whether present at the certificate ceremony or not, are cordially invited to submit a profile for the respective yearbook that the non-profit alumni and support association WiWi-Netzwerk Tübingen e.V. publishes for the students.
Dates of the next graduation and award ceremonies:
- Friday, November 29, 2019
- Friday, June 26, 2020
- Friday, November 27, 2020
What happens at the graduation ceremony?
The graduation ceremony usually starts at 5 p.m. and takes place in a festive setting in the Neue Aula. In addition to the presentation of the diplomas, you can expect to hear the speeches of the year sponsor and the year speaker, the awarding of prizes, music from the collegium musicum and a subsequent champagne reception in the Wandelhalle, where the yearbook of the final year will also be issued for the first time.
Get an idea of the last testimonies and awards ceremonies in the summer of 2019, followed by a list festival.
Read a report about the award ceremony in autumn 2018 in the WiWi News issue summer 2019 and about summer 2018 in the WiWi News issue winter 2018.
At each graduation ceremony, one of the graduates will address his or her fellow students with a short 10-15-minute speech as a class representative. If you would like to suggest someone for the role, please contact us! At alumniwe accept suggestions for future year sponsors. If you are interested, you are also welcome to suggest yourself. @wiwi.uni-tuebingen.de
The yearbook is a compact book that the non-profit alumni and support association WiWi-Netzwerk Tübingen e.V. publishes every semester for the awarding of diplomas. In addition to a year list (with first name, surname, course of study), it contains short half-page profiles of all graduates of the year who submit a profile for this purpose.
The yearbook is created exclusively for remembrance and networking purposes and, for data protection reasons, is only distributed to those persons who are also part of the yearbook!
More information about the yearbook can be found here.
