Anne Burkhardt's current research focuses on AI and Global Justice. It examines discourses on artificial intelligence in the Global South, with a focus on Latin America, including (audio)visual discourses. Previous projects have focused on media ethics, populism, and discourses of violence.
Curriculum Vitae
Anne Burkhardt studied Film and Theater Studies at the University of Mainz. She received her Ph.D. from the Institute for Media Studies at the University of Tübingen with a dissertation on the cinematic treatment of the inner-Colombian conflict. She was awarded a dissertation prize of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Lateinamerikaforschung (ADLAF). During her dissertation, Anne Burkhardt lived in Colombia on a doctoral scholarship, where she also participated in the organization of a short film festival. Before joining the RHET AI Center, she worked for five years as a research assistant at the research area of "Society, Culture and Technological Change" at the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (IZEW). In January 2022, she joined the RHET AI Center as a postdoc researcher. Her work in the Visual Communication Unit of the Center focuses on »AI and Visual Culture«.
