The research project GIDEON investigates how intellectually gifted children differ from their peers in learning and information processing. Despite extensive research, it is still unclear why gifted children acquire knowledge more quickly and perform better in educational settings. Using MRI scans that capture brain activity while watching learning videos, GIDEON aims to uncover the neural mechanisms that enable outstanding learning outcomes.
GIDEON stands for Giftedness, Development, and Education.
Neuroscience Accompanying Course to the Study
Alongside the study, a neuroscience course is being developed for elementary school children participating in the research. This program introduces children to knowledge about the brain, debunks common neuromyths, and fosters a growth mindset. The aim is to strengthen awareness of their own potential, thereby supporting motivation and learning success.
