Qualification Events for Course Leaders

Hector Core Courses 

The Hector Core Courses are specially designed for particularly gifted and highly gifted children at the Hector Children’s Academies. They are based on current findings from subject didactics, psychology, and research on teaching quality. Their effectiveness has been scientifically proven. They represent a central element of quality assurance for the Hector Children’s Academies. For instructors wishing to offer a Hector Core Course, participation in the corresponding qualification event is mandatory.

General Qualification for Course Leaders 

This qualification supports instructors without pedagogical training in planning and conducting their Hector course based on current research on teaching quality. Central aspects of successful teaching—such as avoiding disruptions, conveying knowledge appropriately to the audience, and designing activating materialsare addressed using practical questions. Participation is recommended if a course will be offered soon at a Hector Children’s Academy.

Who are the qualification events aimed at?
The general qualification events are open to all course instructors. Participation is encouraged. For course instructors who wish to offer a Hector Core Course, participation in the corresponding qualification event is mandatory.

Who are the presenters?
The presenters of the qualification events are scientists from the University of Tübingen, as well as course instructors from the Hector Children’s Academies who have many years of experience and have developed a Hector Core Course.

When do the qualification events take place?
Qualification events are offered every year in the autumn. If demand is high, additional dates are scheduled in the spring.

Where do the events take place?
The events take place throughout Baden-Württemberg: at schools, in conference centers, at the Heidelberg University of Education, and at the Hector Institute of the University of Tübingen.

WissenSchafft Hector Children’s Academies 

A lecture series offered by the scientific support for the Hector Children’s Academies 

The WissenSchafft format includes a range of keynote lectures that convey scientific insights in an understandable and practical way. The lecture catalog covers a wide range of topics and is aimed at academy leaders who organize events to promote knowledge transfer. The goal is to strengthen the dialogue between research and practice and support pedagogical work at the Hector Children’s Academies through well-founded impulses from scientific support.
