From the Classroom to the European Parliament: Explore Today's Policy Challenges

A unique two-week learning experience for University of Tübingen students, combining academic perspectives on global policy challenges with a study trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg

Are you interested in how today's major political challenges are shaping policymaking in Europe and beyond? The Institute of Political Science invites master's students and advanced bachelor's students to join its Winter School Policy in the Classroom, taking place from 5–16 October 2026. Over two weeks, participants will explore the concept of polycrisis, engage with leading scholars and policy practitioners, and experience European policymaking firsthand during a study trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Winter School: Policy in the Classroom

The Winter School explores how interconnected global crises are reshaping politics and public policy. Through an interdisciplinary approach, participants examine key policy areas including peace and security, gender, democracy, migration, and climate change.

The programme combines academic excellence with practical insights. Participants will attend lectures by professors from the Institute of Political Science, engage with guest speakers from civil society, and discuss policymaking with former Members of Parliament. The study trip to the European Parliament offers a unique opportunity to observe one of the European Union's key institutions and gain first-hand insight into policymaking at the European level.

The programme also brings together students and staff from Makerere University (Uganda), creating an international learning environment that encourages academic exchange, interactive discussions, and professional networking.
