Dr. Dipl. Psych. Raphael Niebler


Dr. Dipl. Psych. Raphael Niebler studied psychology at the University of Tuebingen and received his diploma in 2009. Until 2012 he wrote his doctoral-thesis in clinical psychology about "cognitive profiles of depression in the elderly and biomarkers of early Alzheimer's diseases" (TREND-study) at the University hospital for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Tuebingen. Since this time he is a member of the gerontopsychiatric research group at the psychiatric hospital headed by Prof. Gerhard W. Eschweiler. He is currently employed as post-doctoral research assistant and involved in a broad variety of projects in the field of gerontopsychiatrics.

As member of the HELP-platform he conducted an international Enquiry regarding Use of and Demands to Technology in the Elderly (EUDeTE) in Germany as well as in Korea. In a side project he evaluated the effectiveness of "instant ageing suits" in the teaching of medical students. Furthermore he is certified therapist for ergotherapeutic techniques in the treatment of dementia patients. In cooperation with Dr. Florian Metzger he conducted and is currently analyzing the results of a study implementing video telecommunications via tablet-PC for patients of a gerontopsychiatric ward and their relatives. His field of expertise contains neuropsychological testing, statistical analysis, empirical science methodology and mental illnesses of the elderly.
