Why does gender inequality in work and care persist despite extensive policy reforms across Europe? REWORC will provide comparative evidence on the effects of parental leave, flexible/remote working, and childcare provision on careers, intra-household care, and family well-being across household types and socio-economic groups. It will advance theory and methods by integrating gender norm change, especially masculinities, and intersectional family diversity into dyadic models of couple decision-making, using administrative and survey data, experiments, and case studies. It aims to disseminate insights on how policies, organisations, and norms interact to shape employment and care and to identify innovative, inclusive policy solutions through simulations, experiments, and stakeholder involvement.
