Physical Activity in Therapy and Rehabilitation

This line of research reflects rehabilitation and healthcare research activities. It includes intervention studies of physical activity and exercise in the areas of therapy and rehabilitation, as well as nation-wide analyses of exercise therapy’s status quo in rehabilitation settings. An important objective is higher-quality exercise offers in prevention, therapy, and rehabilitation, which has motivated our researchers’ contributions to stronger empirical foundations and the further development of exercise offers in the health sector’s various branches.

Our interdisciplinary research is characterized by cooperation within the University of Tübingen (e.g., Tübingen University Hospital and Leibniz Institute for Knowledge Media Research) and with external science and healthcare partners. Various researchers have a particularly noteworthy close cooperation with the Department of Sports Medicine within the University of Tübingen’s Interfaculty Research Institute for Physical Activity and Sport. Research funding sources range from the German Pension Insurance and the German Federal Joint Committee’s Innovation Fund to the Leibniz Science Campus Tübingen.
