In addition to current findings from research and practice, an action-theoretical approach forms the basis of our support and counselling in the field of applied sport psychology (Nitsch, 2004; Conzelmann, Hänsel & Höner, 2013). In this context, we aim to effectively improve talent development as well as the quality of training and competition with (fundamental) psychological skills training in groups and also by working individually with athletes and coaches.
In our work, we are committed to the ethical standards of the German Society for Sport Psychology (asp) and try to establish long-term co-operation with sports clubs and associations in order to produce a lasting effect. We know the challenges in sport and try to support the people involved with our expertise in psychology and sports science. The way we see applied sport psychology, it can be located in the much-cited “magic triangle” of sports science, psychology and sports practice (cf. for the discipline of sport psychology Heckhausen, 1979; Gabler, 2003).
The transfer from research to practice is realized through long-term sports psychological projects and cooperations, where we offer educational courses and workshops (e.g., organized by the German Football Association, the German Society for Sport Psychology or the Association of German Football Coaches). Exemplary settings for our activities are top-level Paralympic sport (e.g., the table tennis department of the National Paralympic Committee Germany) or elite youth sport. Insights into the sports psychological work carried out as part of the cooperation project with the youth academy of VfB Stuttgart are provided in a short documentary by Regio TV.
