FISU Young Reporters Programme with IfS participation
The Institute congratulates Benjamin Stiehl, Bachelor's student in the profile Media and Communication, on his selection for the Young Reporters Programme (YRP) at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
Since 2011, FISU has offered the Young Reporters Programme at the World University Games (formerly known as the Universiade). This programme provides young sports journalists and communications professionals with unique training opportunities at the world's second-largest multi-sport event.
The YRP brings together current students and recent graduates specialising in sports journalism, communications or digital media from all over the world, placing them at the heart of the multi-sport event. The programme offers participants unrestricted access to competition venues, the main press centre, and behind-the-scenes areas of a major sporting event. For two weeks (16–27 July 2025), participants will be immersed in a multicultural learning experience that will challenge them in various ways. As well as covering the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games competitions, participants will attend lectures by seasoned media and communications experts, and receive mentoring in their reporting from experienced sports journalists.
Benjamin Stiehl is the third IfS student to be selected for this programme, following in the footsteps of Nicole Torregrossa (2011) and Max Lange (2015). Lara Zugck, a Master's student at the University of Mainz and an alumnus of the Bachelor's programme in Sports Science with the profile Media and Communication, is also participating in the YRP 2025.
Further information on the YRP can be found in an article in the SportSirene online magazine and on the FISU and Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games websites.
