Prof. Pia Schober, Ph.D. takes over Chair of Microsociology

From March 1st, 2016 Pia Schober takes over the Chair of Microsociology. Since 2012, Pia Schober has been a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Education and Family at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) and she remains affiliated with the DIW Berlin as a Research Fellow. Previously, she held two postdoctoral research fellowships funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council and by the British Academy and was based at the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge (2009-2012). In 2009, she completed a Ph.D. in Social Policy at the London School of Economics.

In her research, she is particularly interested in investigating gender and social inequalities in family and education processes and the influence of early childhood family and education policies. Methodologically she focuses on quantitative empirical methods, in particular longitudinal data analyses.
