Meeting StEvE 2023
Meeting StEvE is the annual symposium of Students in Ecology and Evolution in Tübingen. It offers an excellent opportunity for PhD students of the EVEREST graduate school to present and discuss their work with fellow students and all EVEREST faculty. Advanced MSc students and early-stage post-doctoral students from EVEREST member groups are also welcome to present their work.
This year’s Meeting StEvE will take place on Friday, 08 December 2023. It will have three sessions of oral presentations and a poster session by EVEREST PhD students, followed by the keynote Hilgendorf Lecture. A detailed program will be provided to all registered participants and on this website as of late October 2023.

Keynote lecture
This year’s speaker in the Hilgendorf Lecture will be Prof. Marc Naguib, head of the Behavioural Ecology group at the University of Wageningen NL. Prof. Naguib is a behavioural ecologists with a research focus on the evolution and function of vocal communication in birds. He will present an overview of his extensive work in a talk entitled "Birds in space and time: the role of communication and movement for understanding animal societies".
Registration and Abstract submission
Attendance of the meeting is free of charge and open to all interested students (any level) and faculty, including those not directly affiliated with the EVEREST grad school. All participants (contributors and attendees) need to register no later than 15 October 2023 through the Meeting registration form (registration now closed). Here, contributors of poster and oral presentations additionally submit their Abstract, including contribution Title, Author(s), Affiliation(s), and Abstract (150 words maximum).
Oral and poster presentation formats
Oral contributions are 15 minutes, followed by a 5 min discussion. Projections will be from a Windows PC. The presentation should be submitted prior to the meeting as PowerPoint (.pptx) or PDF files — we prefer the latter to avoid compatibility problems. Posters are vertical with A0 dimensions (1189 mm x 841 mm). There will be a dedicated poster session with snacks and drinks.

Meeting Dinner
Attendants are invited to join for our informal meeting dinner in the restaurant Ratskeller (one drink and food included), starting after the Hilgendorf lecture.
