Audio-CDs

Holdings: The University Library owns an extensive collection of audio CDs, most of which are music recordings.

Reference: The CDs can be found via the Catalog plus and can be researched using the usual search terms. You can get an overview of our holdings of all audio CDs by starting the following truncated search in the catalog in the "call number" field: "1 P *".

Usability: Audio CDs are available at the Ammerbau information desk and can be listened to in special work booths. They are not available for loan.

CDs as a supplement to books and magazines

Holdings: Again and again there are books, occasionally also magazines, which are delivered with a CD as a supplement. As a rule, these CDs are separated from the book (journal) and receive their own signature. An exception are books of the textbook collection, there the CDs always remain in the book.

Reference: These CDs, like their main works to which they belong, are listed in the Catalog plus and can be searched for using the usual search terms and ordered using the usual search terms. You can get an overview of the holdings of CDs as supplements by starting the following truncated search in our catalog in the "call number" field:
"4 P *" (supplement to books) - "5 P *" (supplement to periodicals).

Usability: The usability of CDs as supplements is generally governed by the provisions that apply to the book/magazine to which they belong.

Notes on the search in  Catalog plus

  • for audio tapes: an overview sorted by sequential number can be obtained by entering "1 H *" in the call number field
  • for audio cassettes: an overview sorted by sequential number can be obtained by entering "2 H *" in the call number field
  • for videotapes: an overview sorted by sequential number can be obtained by entering "1 N *" in the call number field
