DKTK-MASTER
DKTK joint-funding project “Molecular Stratification Program”
The DKTK joint-funding project 'Molecular Stratification Program' focuses on customized therapies. The term 'stratification' refers to the initiative to assign patients with the same initial diagnosis to subgroups according to molecular results in order to be able to offer them a tailored therapy. The project promotes the development of a central database containing gene defects and changes in gene activity of tumour cells. The tumour profiles will help hospitals to tailor therapy for individual patients.
The DKTK-MASTER wants to
- establish a shared workflow for rapid whole-exome sequencing, RNA sequencing and validation of actionable genetic findings in younger adults with advanced-stage cancer across all histologies and patients with rare tumors.
- implement a joint DKTK Molecular Tumor Board responsible for identifying therapeutic choices in individual patients, stratifying cases into intervention baskets and determining clinical trial eligibility based on a comprehensive molecular report.
- determine the frequency of newly identified signature genomic events through rapid assembly and targeted analysis of validation cohorts, and to motivate translational research projects.
Therefore clinical trials at all partner-sites can include young adults with advanced-stage cancers and patients with rare tumors in order to find targetable mutations and new treatment options based on these findings.
