Why Open Access?
The background to the initiative is that publicly funded research should be accessible free of charge. According to studies, articles published in open access journals are read and cited more frequently than articles published in closed-access journals. In addition, research results are sometimes published more quickly. More and more third-party funders are demanding that funded results be published in open access. Thus, open access is well on its way to becoming a norm for scholarly publishing. The University Library also supports your publication in accordance with the Open Access Policy of the University of Tübingen which has been transformed into an open science initiative in 2024.
Requirements for an Open Access publication
Rights remain with the author: In this case, the rights are transferred to the publisher/platform operator as a "non-exclusive" or "simple" transfer.
Choice of an open content license, e.g. Creative Commons CC-BY without further restrictive additions.
