Doctoral Process Steps
Acceptance as doctoral candidate |
Please complete and sign the application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate, including the corresponding supervision agreement and the additional information form, and hand it in to the Doctoral Studies Office. The confirmation you receive serves as your document for student registration at the Student Administration. If you have any questions or issues during the compilation of your thesis, you can get back to us at the Doctoral Studies Office. |
Admission to the doctoral procedure (Zulassung) |
Three printed and bound copies of the completed dissertation and an electronic version must be submitted to the Doctoral Studies Office together with the informal application for admission to the doctoral examination procedure. Please add the 5 declarations referring to the doctoral degree regulations (§ 5 paragr. 2 no. 4 to 8), see sample. |
Oral examination (doctoral colloquium) |
After the dissertation has been evaluated and accepted by the Faculty (after the display time is completed, provided no objections are made), an oral examination (doctoral colloquium) shall be held within six weeks. |
Publication of the dissertation |
The publication of the dissertation (prerequisite for the issuing of the doctoral certificate and thus for the right to use the doctoral title) must take place within two years, starting with the date of the doctoral colloquium; this period may be extended, given justified reasons of delay in writing. |
Prior to publication, the publication permit (the "Imprimatur") of the Faculty must be obtained from the Doctoral Studies Office.
The Doctoral Studies Office will then issue the publication approval. |
