Prof. Dr. Friedrich Schubel Foundation Sponsorship Award

The prize is intended for ‘above-average, deserving and needy students of English philology who are writing dissertations or theses in the field of English literature in a postgraduate programme within the English Institute or in which the English Institute is involved’.

Self-nomination is not possible. Suitable candidates will be approached by those authorised to make nominations.
The prize will be awarded at the graduation ceremony of Departments 4 and 5.

Magenau-Wacker Prize for Modern Languages

The foundation prize for an outstanding bachelor's thesis from the German, English, Romance or Slavic departments is awarded annually. It recognises academic excellence in a thesis from the modern languages departments and serves to motivate the prize winners personally. The prize, worth €500, is awarded at the exam celebration in October. Further information about the prize can be found on the website of the German Department.

Scholarships

Scholarships from the Magenau-Wacker Support Programme for Modern Languages

With these study grants, the foundations support young people who are studying languages and literature at the German, English and Romance Departments at the University of Tübingen with above-average performance and enthusiasm – in order to understand them and communicate them to society.

Scholarship recipients receive €100 per month during their studies. The maximum funding period is two years. Further information on the call for applications and deadlines can be found on the German Department website.

Deutschlandstipendium

The Deutschlandstipendium, worth €300 per month, supports particularly gifted and high-achieving students.
The scholarships are awarded regardless of income and can be combined with BAföG funding. The maximum funding period is generally based on the standard period of study and can only be extended beyond the standard period of study in justified cases. Applications can be submitted for the (major) degree programme in which the student is enrolled.

Further information on the requirements and current application deadlines can be found on the general pages of the Deutschlandstipendium.
