The media-critical blog – media bubble

We all read online news, google our illnesses, have an account on Facebook and watch the daily TV program. Media are a part of our lives.
However, as media scientists we are not just entertained and fascinated by media, we criticize them too – from scientific and journalistic points of view. Before graduating in the summer semester 2011, 22 young, creative Master’s students from Tübingen’s Media Studies initiated a media-critical blog – “media bubble - until the bubble bursts”.

In close cooperation with SWR Baden-Baden and with the support of Prof. Susanne Marschall (Chair for Audiovisual Media) they created the multimedia weblog media-bubble, written from the perspective of “digital natives”. It deals with the continually increasing importance of the media, which surround us like a bubble – and might burst one day.

Since August 2011 Alexander Karl (assistant to Ms Marschall) has been responsible for editing media-bubble. His work focuses on research of topics, journalistic editing and writing the blog articles. Mira Kessler, also an assistant to Ms Marschall, has been giving support to the media bubble team since August 2011 by taking on organizational and coordination tasks.
