Get in the studio with Micro-Europa

Campus Radio — Network — Studio

You’ve heard it again and again: radio is a dying medium. No one is listening anymore and it’s lost its relevance.

We disagree. Good radio has a lot to offer. Whether politics, culture, sports, information, music or entertainment, radio has the power to stimulate our senses, make magic with words and take us to new worlds.

That’s why the Institute for Media Sciences offers a special radio project of its own: Radio Micro-Europa.

Founded in Brussels in 2008, Radio Micro-Europa (RME) is an E.U.-funded network of 10 university radio stations in Europe. Since January 2017, RME has functioned as a praxis radio channel for students at Tübingen University, filling in the place of the former university radio station. The concept? Use RME to broadcast the features produced by students fin seminars and for master’s and bachelor’s theses. RME gives students from all different faculties the chance to gain media experience and report on topics they care about. Along with radio, RME reporters also work across mediums, producing film and photography pieces as well as online texts for the Micro-Europa website and social media channels.

RME broadcasts every Sunday from 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. on the radio station Wüste Welle UKW 96.6 as well over a livestream online. Listen to past shows via the media center on the homepage of the Tübingen University Library.

RME is under the direction of PD Dr. Ulrich Hägele, experienced radio journalist and academic employee for the Center for Media Competence / Institute for Media Sciences.

Our cooperation partners include: Freies Radio Wüste Welle (Tübingen), SWR (Studio Tübingen und Stuttgart), Neckaralb Live, the Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW, Hamburg) and the Institut des hautes études des communications sociales (IHECS, Brussels).
