Open Positions

postdoc position TV-L E13, 100 %

The Department of Neurophysiology, Institute of Physiology of the Eberhard Karls University, Tuebingen

is offering a postdoc position for two years (with the possibility of an extension and tenure), TV-L E 13, 100 %, starting from 01.05.2026.

A Ph.D. in Biology/Medicine or a related discipline is required. Sound knowledge of molecular biology (scRNA-Seq, spatial transcriptomics, design/production of viruses, etc.) and/or (in vivo) calcium imaging, including the corresponding analysis methods (Python, R), as well as experience in AI/ data science, will be appreciated.

We offer an excellent career perspective, including the possibility of freely choosing the research project out of the main research areas of the institute, sound didactic training, specialization in physiology (FachphysiologIn) and habilitation.

The main institute’s research areas include:

  • analysis of the interaction between the nervous and immune systems of the brain,
  • priming and senescence of microglia,
  • cellular/molecular basis of sleep-mediated learning,
  • mechanisms of integration of adult stem cells in preexisting neural networks,
  • normal brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease

The candidate is expected to contribute to teaching in neurophysiology (in German) and can integrate into the “Graduate School of Cellular & Molecular Neuroscience” or the Ph.D. program “Experimental Medicine”.

Disabled persons will be given preferential consideration if equally qualified. Please send your application, including CV, the motivation letter, copies of certificates, and a publication list electronically to:

Postdoc in Songbird Neuroscience

The lab of Jun.-Prof. Dr. Lena Veit is looking for a postdoc to study song sequencing in songbirds. The lab uses sound recordings, electrophysiology and various behavioral and neuronal interventions to study the neuronal mechanisms for producing and modifying variable vocal sequences.

The position is funded for 2 years with a possible 3-year extension (total: 5 years) through the DFG Emmy Noether program.

Requirements:

  • PhD in neuroscience (or related field)
  • responsibility in working with animals
  • relevant experience (electrophysiology and/or strong data analysis skills)

Please email me (lena.veitspam prevention@uni-tuebingen.de) a single pdf with your CV/publications and transcripts, and include your anticipated date of PhD graduation. Start is possible from July 2025 (or later).

The Institute of Neurobiology, Center for Integrative Neuroscience and the wider neuroscientific environment in Tübingen provide an ideal and stimulating environment for successful postdocs. For further information about Tübingen, see:
