Artificial Intelligence is a future key technology in industry, mobility, medicine, and our society as a whole. In a new initiative – the “Cyber Valley” – the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems located in Stuttgart and Tübingen, the University of Stuttgart, the University of Tübingen, as well as companies from the IT and industrial sector will join forces in order to strengthen research in the fields of Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and other fields related to Artificial Intelligence. A key goal of Cyber Valley will be to promote startups and entrepreneurial activities, and to enhance technology transfer between academia and industry. Coordinator (f/m) - "Cyber Valley"

Your tasks and responsibilities

Develop and establish the new Cyber Valley research cooperation
Advising, supporting, and assisting the Executive Board of Cyber Valley
Coordination of industrial and academic partner network
Development of a supporting structure for young tech startups in agreement with the Executive Board
Supervising the Cyber Valley management unit
Organizing scientific events
Preparation of scientific reports
External and public relations
Advising and supporting Cyber Valley research groups to be established
Point of contact to connect researchers from partner institutions

Requirements

Completed scientific higher education
PhD related to the Cyber Valley research topics is desirable
Experience in public or private research management
Possible experience in industry and/or the establishment of tech startups, incubators or accelerators,
technology transfer, or IP management
Willingness and capability to learn about the partners’ research and promoting tech startups
Excellent command of both English and German (at least C1 level)
Knowledge of standard software packages

Candidates should have excellent organizational and problem solving skills. He/she should be confident to take on a responsible and proactive role in international teams. Conflict resolution and communication skills are essential. Ideally, candidates are familiar with the local, national, and international research landscape (public / industrial) as well as with research funding and are highly motivated to work in research management.

Our offer
Salaries will be based on previous experience according to TVöD guidelines. An initial contract will be offered for 2 years but subsequent extension is possible according to the project runtime.
