The CoHumLab brings together expertise in computational methods, digital scholarship, and human-centered approaches to research and teaching in the humanities. Its name reflects a dual focus: on computational methods in the humanities and on computer-human collaboration, including co-creative and interdisciplinary research settings that explore how digital technologies can enhance, support, and transform humanities scholarship.
Our work spans the development, application, and critical reflection of methods from the Digital Humanities, ranging from data-driven and computational approaches to the analysis of texts and media. At the same time, we actively engage with emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, integrating AI-based methods into both our research projects and our teaching. By combining technical innovation with humanities perspectives, we seek to foster responsible, reflective, and impactful digital scholarship.
The CoHumLab serves as a hub for collaboration and knowledge exchange across disciplines. It integrates staff members and expertise from the M.A. specialization in Digital Humanities, the faculty's Data Steward, and the Text+ Tübingen team, with PI Prof. Dr. Angelika Zirker. Together, these groups support research, teaching, research data management, and the development of digital infrastructures for humanities research.
Through its activities, the CoHumLab provides a collaborative environment for students, researchers, and project partners interested in exploring the intersections of humanities, data, digital methods, and AI. We are committed to advancing innovative research, fostering digital competencies, and shaping the future of computationally informed humanities scholarship.
