26.5.2021 - Marcel Fahrner and Tim Pawlowski discuss the organization and relevance of sports in the US.

The US Country Report of the Federal Agency for Civic Education offers basic information on the US history, as well as politics, society, economy and foreign policy in the country. In this edition, 51 authors from Germany and the US provide comprehensive insights into the country.

Sports in general plays a major role in the country. In their chapter, Marcel Fahrner and Tim Pawlowski describe some basic features of sports in the US including professional sports, collegiate sports, Olympic (elite) sports and leisure type physical activity. Key topics include discrimination and racism highlighting some current challenges for organised sports in the country.
