Michael Pelzer

Michael Pelzer’s research focuses on questions of visual rhetoric, theories of evidence, and competence development in the field of visual science communication. His further research interests comprise theoretical foundations and discourse analyses in regard to the communicative construction of collective memories.

Curriculum Vitae

Michael Pelzer studied General Rhetoric, Modern History and Modern English Literature at the University of Tübingen and at the University of Durham, England.
After receiving his master's degree, he worked as a research assistant at the Department of General Rhetoric.
Since 2020, he has been responsible for the area of "Knowledge Design" within the framework of the Excellence Strategy at the University of Tübingen. In addition, he conducts research on visual science communication in the specialized field of artificial intelligence as part of the RhetAI Center.
A core area of his work consists in developing and conducting workshops and training formats for competence development in the field of visual science communication. He supports researchers and public relations managers in the conception of visual design strategies and provides feedback on existing concepts and materials. In doing so, he creates new spaces for exchange in science communication and drives interdisciplinary collaborations for visual knowledge transfer
