Note: The german HIRDES instrument is no longer foreseen as instrument onboard WSO/UV. Russia will design a new spectrograph. This page describes the status of HIRDES as result of studies carried out in Germany and funded by the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. (DLR).
The main characteristics of the HIRDES instrument are summarized as follows:
- High Resolution Double Echelle Spectrograph: wavelength range 103-310 nm with spectral resolution R=50,000-60,000 as well as a long-slit spectrograph with R=1000-2000.
There is the beta version of an exposure time calculator available (working, but not ready).
