Dr. Thanh Lan Truong

Thanh Lan Truong did her undergraduate studies in Anglistik/ Amerikanistik at Tübingen University. During her undergraduate studies, she took part in the Erasmus exchange programme in Bangor, Wales. Throughout her studies, she has discovered her passion for speech perception: How we understand it, and how we use it. In March 2018, she received are Master's degree in English Linguistics at University of Tübingen with the focus on the perception of Japanese pitch-accent contrasts. In April 2018, she started her doctoral research under the supervision of Andrea Weber and Claudia Friedrich. In 2023 she completed her PhD Project in psycholinguistics: "Hearing the Message and Seeing the Messenger: The Role of Talker Information in Spoken Language Comprehension". She is currently continuing research in heritage speech processing using psycholinguistic methods.

Summer term 2024 - ongoing

Advanced Linguistic Workgroup:
I am currently leading the Advanced Linguistic Workgroup, a monthly interdisciplinary meeting that brings together researchers from various departments within the linguistics field. This workgroup provides a platform for discussing ongoing research, exchanging ideas, and enhancing collaboration across different linguistic subfields. Our sessions cover a wide range of topics, including theoretical and applied linguistics, as well as statistical methods in linguistics.
