Raphael Zähringer studied German and English at Tübingen University and Leeds University, UK. He received his Ph.D. from Tübingen University (summa cum laude and awarded with the Prof.-Dr.-Friedrich-Schubel-Stiftung Advancement Award). Since the completion of his postdoctoral thesis ("Habilitation", title: Writing Crisis: Ireland, 1596-2018, forthcoming 2026), he is now a "Privatdozent" in English Literatures and Cultures. His major areas of research are English and Irish contemporary literature and culture, Science Fiction and dystopian fiction, border studies and spatio-temporal concepts, and media epistemology.
