Dr. Wroth focuses on human-environmental interactions and ancient pyrotechnology. Her research utilizes a suite of microarchaeological techniques such as phytolith analysis and sediment micromorphology to reconstruct past environments and understand how local plant communities changed through time. She has studied both early human and Neandertal behavior in a variety of contexts, including the Middle Paleolithic of southwest France and the Middle-to-Late Stone Age of South Africa.
