Portrait

Suhyun Lee is a doctoral student and Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in Korean Studies at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Germany. Her master’s thesis, “Who Creates K-pop? A Case Study of Cover Dance Videos on YouTube,” explored the active role of cover dancers in shaping K-pop culture, challenging established dichotomy of fan/artist and Korean/non-Korean. Her current doctoral project investigates the Korean society in Germany, especially aiming to uncover the unique characteristics of the “Korean Town” in Frankfurt (Main) while exploring the formation and dynamics of Korean communities.
