Excellence Strategy

Athene Program

To promote female scientists in the qualification phase, the University of Tübingen has launched the Tübingen Athene Program as part of its Excellence Strategy. The primary goal of this program is to promote promising female scientists by combining support for scientific work with career planning assistance. The Athene Program consists of three program lines: Athene Grant, Athene Mentoring, and Athene Advanced.

1. Athene Grant

This intramural program offers additional funds for research that can be used flexibly, e.g., for assistants, conference participation, or research organization. In addition, there is individual coaching related to scientific careers and opportunities to acquire science-related, interdisciplinary skills. Networking and the exchange of experiences among Athene participants are facilitated in workshops held twice a year.

2. Athene Mentoring

The Athene Mentoring Program is aimed at women and non-binary individuals who are studying, pursuing a doctorate, or in the postdoctoral phase, as well as professors, and supports them in pursuing further academic qualifications. The aim of Athene Mentoring is to get women and non-binary individuals interested in the next level of qualification at an early stage and to increase their representation in advanced career stages.
