Programmes for Students

We are constantly developing new programmes to meet the needs of our students.  On this page you will find a selection of health programmes that contribute to the physical, mental and social well-being of students of students.
The ‘6 Ways to Well-being’ will help you choose the right programme for you. 


Physical Activity

Exercise promotes health and well-being and helps to reduce stress and socialise. Therefore, take advantage of the following exercise programmes. They can be easily integrated into everyday study life. Some of the programmes are especially for first-semester students or international students. 

Active Breaks

Breaks in the daily study routine are important to maintain performance and well-being. If physical activity is integrated into the breaks, all the better! Depending on how much time you have, with our digital offers, the active break organization can be easily integrated into your daily study routine.

Balance Break: In the short clips you will be shown exercises that you can easily do directly at your desk.

Bewegungssnack digital: 5-7 minute digital movement break for relaxation and activation.

Bewegungssnack on Tour: Mobile small sports equipment and outdoor games rental.

During the winter semester our Bewegungssnack on Tour tours regulary around the campus. Students can borrow small sports and outdoor games for a deposit (student ID). Daily updated standings of the rental also will be announced on the social media channels.

 

Moving Classroom

Are you looking for a way to make your teaching more movement-friendly?  For all lecturers at the University of Tübingen there is now an online media library (Nextcloud), with which they have exclusive access to our digital movement breaks and other moving methods for teaching. If you are interested, please send us an email and you will receive the corresponding access data afterwards. Since WS 21/22, a selection of videos is also available in English.

Standing Desks

Do you prefer to study standing up? No wonder, learning while standing has many advantages: increased concentration due to better blood circulation, relief of the musculoskeletal system and much more! In the university library, you can use mobile table stands, the ‘Monkey Desk’, free of charge. The ‘Monkey Desks’ can be borrowed from the Ammerbau counter.

3ex-Programm: Exchange, explore, exercise!

This course is aimed at all international students - especially the Degree Seeking Students and their Local Buddies. From the beginning of their stay in Tübingen, the participants should get to know the university sports and the movement compensation in the everyday study life in different ways in order to be sustainably strengthened for an active lifestyle - true to the motto: "exchange, explore, exercise". The course meets once a week to learn about a new course offered by the university sports department. In a fixed group, a protected framework for overcoming inhibitions together is guaranteed and at the same time the resource of social exchange and togetherness is strengthened.
 

Unisport-O-Mat - Find the sport that suits you!

There is now something very special for those interested in university sports! The Unisport-O-Mat shows you which university sports offers match your sporting interests and preferences. Based on 16 questions, you will be shown a personalized top 10 list of university sports offers that suit you!

The Unisport-O-Mat is now available to you free of charge! We wish you lots of fun!


Bike related Programmes

Everyday movements, such as cycling, increase health and well-being. 72% of students in Tübingen rely on bicycles in their daily lives. To be safe in traffic, it is important to regularly check on your two-wheeler. Our offers in the pro bike section help you with this and therefore range from bike checks and bike repair workshops to challenges and offers around the cargo bike.

RadCHECK-Event

The RadCHECK-Event is an annual event where you can have your bike checked for free by experienced students and experts!
Our next RadCHECK event will take place in Spring 2025!

Bike Repair WORKSHOP

The Bike repair WORKSHOPS are aimed at all students who have had little or no involvement with their bike. The goal of the workshops is to increase your skills so that you can maintain your bike yourself and make minor repairs.

BeTaBike - Cargo Bike of the Student Health Management

With our cargo bike you can transport equipment from A to B free of charge and flexibly. Please note: Before the first use, the completion of the introduction is necessary.

Introduction: Arrange appointment with out team for the introduction. 

 

RadCHALLENGE

Every semester you have the chance to prove your skills on the bike. No matter if you are a beginner or an athlete - together in a team everyone can do their part! The next RadCHALLENGE will take place in May 2025!


Mental Health Programmes

In today's fast-paced (student) world, it is more important than ever to look after your own mental health. The following mental health programmes are specifically designed to offer students support in building up resources to better deal with the challenges of everyday (student) life. 

Mental Health Days

Under the motto Creating New Perspectives, the Mental Health Days will take place for the first time at the University of Tübingen from 25 November to 4 December 2024! The aim of the university-wide action days is to raise awareness of the topic of mental health in everyday university life, break down stigmas and strengthen students in their mental health! Various university facilities and external partners are taking part and offering great activities!

Active against Stress - Consultation hour

For many students, stress is an everyday companion. To prevent the psychological stresses of everyday study from having a chronic effect on the psyche and body, it is important to counteract them preventively. In the Active Against Stress - One-to-One session, you will learn practical exercises tailored to your needs, such as relaxation and mindfulness exercises, with which you can overcome everyday hurdles in your study routine. The coaching is conducted by a qualified relaxation trainer.

Mental Health First Aid

What does MHFA mean?
MHFA stands for Mental Health First Aid - i.e. first aid for mental health (for others and also for yourself). Every year, a large number of students (from various disciplines/departments) are trained as MHFA first aiders.

Chemistry student council

MHFA training
In the MHFA First Aid course, you will learn about various mental illnesses and their symptoms. You will learn how to recognize those affected and how to help them. After successfully completing the seminar, you have the opportunity to qualify as a licensed MHFA first aider.  MHFAs are not psychotherapists, but students who are committed to the mental health of their fellow human beings. They are therefore a first point of contact. 

As an MHFA student, you will become part of our network, which meets once or twice a year for a social event and works together to raise awareness of mental health issues.

The Student Counseling Service offers a selection of workshops for international students on the following topics "How to manage you studies".

Mindful Science

Mindful Science was founded in 2021 after an initial survey of Master's students showed interest in a mental health initiative. Since then, the group has grown and is working to create a space for discussion about student and academic mental health, reduce the stigma of mental illness and provide resources for students.

Mental Health Counseling

At the university, there are a number of organisations that can advise you on all aspects of your studies. You can also find an overview of counselling services outside the university here.

Compatibility of studies and family (Family Office)

Student Parents' Forum: The Student Parents' Forum is organised by the Family-Friendly University working group of the Tübingen Student Council.
 Regardless of whether you have already started your studies with a child, have become pregnant in the meantime or have just had a child, you will always be confronted with a number of challenges. The AK is your point of contact for family issues. It aims to provide information, point out opportunities and overcome challenges together. It is important to exchange ideas with other student parents. That's why there are regular meetings every semester where you can exchange ideas and make contacts directly with other parents.

Information on studying with a child: As studying with a child brings with it particular challenges, there are a number of options at the university that can make the balancing act between family responsibilities and studying easier. Information on parental leave, semesters off, study organisation, balancing studies and family, family life on campus, studying abroad with a child or financing your living expenses can be found here.
 

Family rooms: There are a large number of family rooms at the university. The retreats for students with children or expectant mothers can be reserved via the homepage of the Family Office.

Studying with disabilities (Student Counseling Service)

It is estimated that there are over 3,000 students at the University of Tübingen whose ability to study is affected by illness and/or disability. In order to support students in coping well with their studies, the University of Tübingen offers a special counselling service that can be used at any stage of their studies, even before they start.

Counselling in the event of difficulties during your studies (Student Counselin Service)

If your studies come to a standstill or if problems arise in connection with your studies, the student advisors at the Central Student Advisory Service are there to help you: Birgit Grunschel, Katja Grathwol, Hanna Rindfleisch. They are committed to understanding problems and working with students to find possible solutions. Depending on the issue, it is also possible to arrange follow-up appointments within a certain framework.
Counselling topics include, for example
- Motivation problems
- Learning problems, such as repeated ‘procrastination’
- Development of learning and study strategies
- Time and work management
- Inhibitions when giving presentations
- Loss of exam aspirations and development of new perspectives
- Exam preparation
- Considering dropping out of university
- Contact problems during your studies

Counselling is of course voluntary, open-ended and confidential.

Psychotherapeutic counselling (Studierendenwerk)

Studying involves many demands and not everything always goes as planned. Many students experience study-related or personal crises that do not always seem possible to overcome alone. In these situations - or even if you see them coming - you can turn to the Psychotherapeutic Counselling Centre of the Studierendenwerk.

Study Programmes

What keeps us healthy? How can you strengthen your own health on a bio-psycho-social level? In collaboration with the Transdisciplinary Course Programme (TCP), Student Health Management offers a selection of health seminars every semester, which can be taken and credited as part of the key competencies within the degree programme. 

Certificate Health Literacy

What keeps us healthy? How can you strengthen your own health on a bio-psycho-social level? And what does health and well-being actually have to do with sustainability? You will find answers to these questions in the Health Literacy certificate programme as part of the Transdisciplinary Course Programme. The Programme is in German only.

Nutrition

A balanced diet is essential for balance and optimal performance in everyday (study) life. Our offers therefore provide guidance in the selection of foods and dishes.

Mensa Vital

MensaVital is the healthy menu line of the Studierendenwerk. MensaVital stands for fresh, balanced and contemporary food. The specially developed recipes take into account both regional and international cooking influences as well as a balanced composition of ingredients. 

Recipes

From meat and fish recipes, vegetarian and vegan (video) recipes to recipes for drinks, there is a wide selection. No matter what time of the year or day, you will find the right dish. Stop by, implement and let it taste delicious and healthy.

RettIch-Regal (KNE)

The RettIch shelf is a drop-off and takeaway point for rescued food and was opened in the summer semester of 2024. It is located behind the GeiWi cafeteria in the university's Brecht Building. All people from inside and outside the university are invited to share and take food that would otherwise have ended up in the bin for free. The RettIch shelf was created on the initiative of the Advisory Board for Sustainable Development in collaboration between the Competence Centre for Sustainable Development (KNE), the brechtbauplenum and the foodsharing initiative.
